Who We Are
The Friends of Mid-Columbia River Wildlife Refuges assist the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in accomplishing its mission to "To support the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service by providing opportunities for people to connect with nature through projects, programs and events." We are a part of a network of one of eight Friends of Wildlife Refuges in the state of Washington. 185 Refuge Friends organizations support 280 wildlife refuges and wetland management districts. What we do
Most of what we do directly connects people with nature through teaching classes, hosting special wildlife activities and being part of community events. Other things are behind the scenes and more subtle, like interacting with Congress and helping with landscaping at the refuges.
Our Connection
Through training workshops, communications networks and partnerships, and advocacy, we generate support for wildlife refuges and vital wildlife habitats at the local and national levels.
